Humic acids come from varying sources both from land and sea. Aged sea deposits usually have had some contact with land in the past anyway. Peat is a very good source of Humic for instance as is certain guanos.

Humic Acids are beneficial to plants in a variety of ways but their most basic benefit is that they chelate cations making trace elements like magnesium, calcium and iron much more readily available to plant cells.

Research suggests that out of the two classes of Humic acids mentioned here; Fulvic acid is the compound most ‘active’ and therefore seen to be the more valuable of the two in plant nutrition. However Humic Acid is seen to have a greater effect on the chelation of micro nutrients while fulvic has a greater capability of chelating macro nutrients.

Both products are highly beneficial to all plants and are a very valuable supplement for any fertilization program. Works on all grow mediums and in all situations right throughout the plants life.

Tip- Humic is much ‘thicker’ than fulvic so it is our advice to use Fulvic in hydroponics systems so as to prevent the clogging of feed lines. Humic Acid is a great pre-treatment to any starter cube or pot.
